Travel and TSA followup

I am back alive and well after flying to the West Coast and back. It was an interesting flight on the way there. After we found our seats on our flight out of Dallas, we watched an Asian man come down the aisle, clearly dealing with some mental or nervous issues...anytime he would have anyone come near him he would have big drama and throw his hands in the air and roll his eyes and then kind of hug himself...I watched him sit in an aisle seat with 2 women who were clearly disturbed by what they had seen also.  He immediately stuck fingers in both ears and rocked back and forth, which didn't help the situation any, making people wonder if there was going to soon be a loud noise on-board. Immediately after takeoff he jumped up out of his seat and crouched down with fingers in his ears and ran all the way up the aisle and all the way back to the back of the plane, by now, everyone was watching this guy as he ducked into the restroom on his way back up the aisle. I must admit, by now, I'm saying silent prayers, and I shook my already sleeping husband awake, not knowing what would happen next. One of the ladies called the flight attendant and told him that the man carried a lighter into the restroom with him. At this point the attendant went back to the back and banged on the door and asked him if he had a lighter, of course the answer was no, so the attendant opened the door and removed the lighter.  The man eventually came out of the restroom in the same position that he entered in, fingers in ears, and took his seat where he rocked for the remainder of the trip, while under the watchful eyes of every other passenger on that plane. I understand that there are a lot of people with mental issues, and this may be the case, but, my first question is, if all passengers have to pass through the scanner, how would this man get through with the lighter? I truly believe that all the drama that goes on in the lines with having to take all jewelry, belts, and shoes off and opening your laptop to put through the scanner is for no other reason that to cover their backsides when someone does take out another plane load of people.

Travel and TSA

While preparing for a trip and not only trying to decide how little I can take and not have to pay the bag fee of $50.00, I got to thinking of how everytime we enter into the line to have our carry on bags inspected, whether it is Domestic or International travel, I am always one of the "Chosen Ones" to be pulled into the little clear booth and get the "Wand". EVERYTIME! Hmm, random? Don't think so. I thought about how the inspectors wear the baggy little plastic gloves to shove their hands inside of suitcases and bags as well as do the "underwire" check on women, and they wear the same pair of gloves for their entire shift! I understand that they don't want to get whatever chemicals, powders, or, bacteria on their hands, but, do you think that I want whatever is on the outside of those gloves to get shoved into my suitcase or bag and on my belongings and under things? I think I will slow the process down a little from now on and ask for a new pair of gloves to be used on my bags.

BIG News,DUH!  Mothers are unhappy with Sketchers making the "Shape-Up" Shoes for toning little girls behinds, push up bras for little girls, make up for little girls...I too, find this appalling, but companies would not bother making this CRAP if there weren't mothers out there buying it....Make you $ be your words WOMEN!! Don't buy something if you're offended by it, it will then disappear! Of course, this didn't work for me and Barney, we never, ever watched that ridiculously stupid purple dino show and it's still on!!! lol Can you hear my soap box screeching across the floor......Also, I again make a plug for the website Digusout.com, you can see companies that are BORN IN THE USA, buy from them and your $ will talk and lower prices and get more jobs here in the GOOD 'OL US OF A!

High Speed Chase in Wichita

High speed chase last night of a stolen car critically injures 1 and causes 2 minor injuries. Are you kidding me? First of all what happened to the NO High speed chases through a town? I can understand that circumstances would be different if there had been a hostage involved, but, the police had already stopped the car, and it pulled away, giving them an excuse for a high speed chase, but, to know that the car would have had to stop eventually, and would have been found, makes it not worth taking or injuring others lives. According to KSN, the driver of the stolen car ran a red light and the two cars crossing on the green both hit the stolen car. I just don't understand how this could even be justified!

Lara Logan Beaten and Raped in Cairo!

I cannot believe that once again, we have sent someone pale skinned and blonde to cover the problems in Cairo! This is ridiculous, CBS, to send not only a woman, but, an American, blonde woman into the streets, what are you thinking? Do you not know how they feel about women? According to Reuters, she was in the middle of the celebration when she was whisked away from her crew, to be beaten and raped, before other women pulled her out of the situation!

The People of Egypt

I think the clean-up efforts according to AOL, in Egypt, say a lot about the people. All politics aside, they want to live in a peaceful, well run environment. There are so many people, especially children, that live in the streets, I'd hate to see the country stay in a state of turmoil.

America and the rest of the world

Do you get the feeling that unless the U.S. is providing food, shelter, clothing, education, and money to other countries, it doesn't matter, it seems to the rest of the world, everything the U.S. does is wrong. Do they wonder why so many Americans step back and want to let the other countries fend for themselves? Our Bible and Our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:39"Do not resist an evil person. U.S. Debt Ceiling will be reached by March, 2011

(TRILLION)worth of debt, and you didn't get to be the one to make a purchase! The Congress voted in the ceiling, and it will be reached by March, 2011, and will either have to raise the ceiling, giving the government more credit, or cut spending. Now, last time I checked, when the economy took a huge dump and thousands of my dreams with it, I had to cut spending in this house. I was not able to just walk into a bank and say "I'm broke, can I have a loan?" I believe it's the governments turn. How many times have you said or heard someone say "Oh he works for the Government, he makes really good money" Did you stop to think that it was our money? According to Eleanor Clift, Politics Daily, Ron Reagan Jr. suspected his Dad (President Reagan)had Alzheimers as early as 1987? Unbelievable! What a weak attempt of some poeple to discount what the President did while in office! I think people have gone to extreme measures to take down the republican party, and this is really low.I guess Ron Reagan Jr. needed some trash to sell his book. What a shame that he would disrespect his parents this way, after they are gone.

Postal prices going up, again?

Don't you think that the USPS would consider that if they lost $8.5 Billion last year, that they need to rethink their strategy of raising the price of a stamp? If you were selling ice cream at $1.00 ea. and they weren't selling, do you think raising the price would help? If you don't get this, let me know, I'll draw a picture! By the way, I won't be sending this out with a stamp on it.

Haiti not getting cleaned up

I'm thinking Haiti didn't look Grand before the earthquake, but, I read that only 2% has been cleaned up. My question is, where has all the money gone that was collected for that purpose? Is it sitting in a nice account collecting interest while decisions are being made about restructuring the country, or has it landed in the wrong hands and is now gone?

Icy Streets on Tuesday

While driving North to go to work in 3 degree weather, I notice how differently streets are made safe for drivers. After sludging my way out of Bel-Aire, I enter into Kechi, Awesome! Kechi really has their priorities straight when it comes to driver safety, the streets are clear with sand placed just where needed. Park City's Main area of 61st and 135 are sprinkled with sand, not bad until I reached the 61st and Broadway intersection, it appeared that nothing has been done there, felt a bit sleddy going north. I'm not a native ice driver, so I always notice who has the best streets to drive on, also, the drivers the past two mornings seem to be taking it easy and not getting in too big a hurry. All in all, the snow is AWESOME, what a beautiful gift of nature!

Gun Control

I just don't understand how every time there is an incident where a gun is involved, all talk turns to gun control! Gun control will not control people, if a person has a mental disorder and uses a gun, it's not the gun with the problem! Illegal guns can not be controlled, how does our government think that controlling what guns I can have as a typical citizen will stop senseless killings? If someone can explain this to me, I'd be happy to listen.

Gov. Sam Brownback sworn in this morning! He's worked toward the job for so long, I'm glad he has it and wish him well!! Had the pleasure of speaking with him at a Kansas League of Municipalities Conference, regarding education several years ago, I think he will do us well!! Go Kansas!

Icy City Streets

A big pat on the back for Kechi, Kansas!!! Got out there and made those roads incredibly clean!Plowed off the ice and snow, Park City also did a great job, even had guys out cleaning off side streets and sidewalks! Bel-Aire, not so good, guess they can't afford it since they became land developers....Let's see, a city's main duties are Utilities, Safety, and Streets. Hmmmm

Place the blame in the right place

I can't believe that instead of putting the blame on the obviously disturbed 22 year old, Jared Loughner, for shooting and injuring and killing 20 people in Arizona, in an AP article by Amanda Lee Myers and Pauline Arrillaga, it is suggested that "The assassination attempt left Americans questioning whether divisive politics had pushed the suspect over the edge." I don't know any Americans that are feeling politics are to blame, I think this is ridiculous! Put blame where blame should be. It's clear the man had some issues, he had made his own currency!

To the Lady at Dillons with her furry Cocker in the shopping cart, I would never have taken my baby, bare bottomed and sat him in a cart, where people place their food. I would appreciate the same respect from you. Shame on the Dillons Mgmt. for being afraid to say anything to her, although shoppers were complaining.

Gas Prices Wichita, Kansas

Someone please explain to me why in Wichita, Kansas I just paid $2.91 for a gallon of gas? What lame excuse are they giving us now? When exactly did we go from a county that demanded things from other countries to bending over for all of them?
